The Shirahama Onsen Message Fireworks light up Shirarahama Beach in Wakayama on five Saturdays from July 18 to August 22, 2026. With only 50 paid parking spaces, arriving by bus is the recommended route.

Overview

Part firework show, part open-air dedication: messages with upbeat themes — proposals, words of thanks — are broadcast across Shirarahama Beach and over local FM, and each one is answered by a single shell climbing into the night sky. In 2026 the series runs five Saturdays: July 18, July 25, August 8, August 15 and August 22, each from 8 to 8:40 p.m. From JR Shirahama Station, the Meiko bus reaches the Shirarahama stop, then a 15-minute walk. The Shirarahama lot charges 1,000 yen for 50 spaces (6–9 p.m.), so public transport is advised. No food stalls are set up — plan meals in the hot-spring town beforehand.
