The centrepiece of the Matsue Suigosai festival unfolds over Lake Shinji's eastern waters: roughly 10,000 shells on August 1 and 11,000 on August 2, each evening running from 20:15 to 21:00. Four moored platforms serve as launch sites, producing the display's signature moments — No. 10 shells released from all four positions simultaneously, and light compositions drawn from the lake's sunsets. A drone show runs before the first shell, and the senrin fireworks, a hit with last year's visitors, are scheduled for both nights in 2026. With about 690,000 people expected across the two days, lakeside viewing space fills early. Paid seating is best bought in advance. Ichibata Railway's Matsue Shinjiko-Onsen Station sits right by the venue, and it is a 15-minute walk from JR Matsue Station's north exit.
