One of the largest fireworks festivals in western Japan, held in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It boasts a long history dating back to the mid-Edo period. Approx. 13000 shells, mainly powerful star mines, spectacular underwater fireworks, and rapid-fire launches, color the night sky and sea surface. In addition to the main venue at the Onomichi Channel, viewing from Mukaishima Island or Senkoji Temple is also recommended. Alongside the fireworks, the event also features mikoshi (portable shrines) and sea lantern displays.
