A large-scale fireworks event held across the Kanmon Straits between Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture and Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Gorgeous fireworks are launched from both the Shimonoseki and Moji sides, attracting approximately 800,000 visitors combined each year. The Shimonoseki venue features a 1-shaku-5-sun shell (approx. 45 cm) reaching a diameter of about 450 meters, and powerful underwater fireworks that shake the sea surface. On the Moji side, 40 consecutive shaku-dama (approx. 30 cm shells) illuminate the night sky one after another, offering dynamic displays. No dedicated parking is available for the event, so public transportation is recommended.
