A fireworks display held in Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture. The event originated from the long-standing festival days of Benten and Sumiyoshi shrines, and has been cherished as the 'Ozu River Festival Fireworks Display' since 1948. Held in a basin surrounded by mountains, the thunderous roar of the fireworks can be felt throughout the body — a distinctive feature of this event. Approximately 3,000 shells, the largest scale in Ehime, are launched. Ozu City, known as the 'Little Kyoto of Iyo,' boasts beautiful streetscapes, making it a great spot to enjoy both sightseeing and fireworks.
