The 'Citizens' Festival Ashizuri Festival' held in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, is a historic summer festival that began in 1961 (Showa 36), cherished as an event where locals can enjoy themselves while wishing for the city's prosperity and industrial development. The main highlight is the water fireworks, said to be one of the largest in Shikoku. Fireworks reflecting on the harbor's surface create a fantastical scene together with the night sky. The day features 'Ashizuri Odori' dance performances by local residents, a food stall village offering regional flavors, and shops selling local specialties, creating a lively atmosphere from day to night.
