Summary
A fireworks festival held at Kuchinotsu Port, the maritime gateway of Nagasaki Prefecture. It has been held since 1978 (Showa 53) and has become a major seasonal tradition heralding the start of summer in Minamishimabara City. This year it is held as a commemorative event for the 20th anniversary of the city's incorporation. Approximately 2,000 shells including underwater fireworks are launched from the center of the port, filling the night sky and Kuchinotsu Port with colorful fireworks.
