Summary
The Shisa Town Noryo Fireworks mark the end of Obon in Matsuura City, Nagasaki, on Saturday, August 15, 2026. From about 7:30 p.m., spirit boats parade the Shisa shopping street with firecrackers and Matsuura taiko drums, before about 1,000 shells rise from the lower Shisa River over 20 minutes from about 8:30 p.m. The venue is a 5-minute walk from Matsuura Station; in bad weather the fireworks move to Monday, August 17.
Overview
The evening opens with the spirit-boat procession — boats sending off ancestral spirits set off from in front of the Amista Hotel at about 7:30 p.m. and parade the shopping street to the beat of firecrackers and taiko. The fireworks follow at about 8:30 p.m.: roughly 1,000 shells in 20 minutes over the lower reaches of the Shisa River. Matsuura Station is a 5-minute walk from the riverbank, and free parking for about 150 cars sits at the city-office lot and nearby. In case of bad weather, only the fireworks move to Monday, August 17.
