Overview
Held in the Uchinomaki district of Aso City, the Hi-no-yama Festival fireworks run 7:45-8:10 pm on August 22, 2026 at the multipurpose plaza of the Aso City General Center. Around 2,000 shells launch with the site facing them head-on from the main Shibainai area, making the whole display easy to take in. Stalls, children's programming and stage shows surround the plaza in a celebration expected to draw 7,000-10,000 people. A free temporary lot for 1,000 cars is provided, and JR Aso Station is about 10 minutes away by taxi. In stormy weather, only the fireworks move to 8:00 pm the following day, Sunday the 23rd.
