Summary

The Eta Funayama Kofun in Kumamoto Prefecture is where the 'Silver-inlaid Iron Sword,' a first-class source for understanding Japanese history, was excavated. The 'Nagomi Town Kofun Festival' in Nagomi Town, Tamana County, Kumamoto Prefecture, began in 1971 (Showa 46) when this kofun was designated as a cultural property. In 2025, the festival period will be changed to September. The main highlight, the 'Banquet of Flames,' is held, featuring spectacular events such as the Fire Priestess Dance, the Murite Dance, and a torchlight procession.
