Summary

The Innai Summer Festival in Usa City, Oita, closes on Friday, August 14, 2026, with about 500 fireworks from 20:10. From the 18:30 opening, the plaza hosts live sets by the local band Usa Ventures USA, performances by the Doryu Daiko drum troupe and an open bon dance before the finale. The venue is about 10 minutes from Innai IC on the Usa-Beppu Road, with free parking on the branch office grounds. In rain, the festival alone moves to the next day and the fireworks are cancelled.

Overview

Bon-season Innai town fills with festival spirit from 18:30: the local band Usa Ventures USA plays live, the Doryu Daiko drums resound, and the bon dance welcomes anyone into the circle. At 20:10, about 500 fireworks rise to close the night — a small-town festival where the community's ties are easy to feel. The venue is the plaza in front of the Innai branch office, about 10 minutes from Innai IC on the Usa-Beppu Road via Route 387, with free parking on the office grounds. Note that rain postpones the festival (not the fireworks) to the following day — the fireworks themselves are cancelled — so check announcements by the Usa City Tourism Association if the weather turns. Food stalls line the venue in the evening.

Info for International Visitors

Best arrival time

The festival opens at 18:30 and the fireworks run about 20 minutes from 20:10. Arriving 30–45 minutes beforehand still leaves you a choice of spots on the plaza.

With kids

There are events anyone can join, like the bon dance, so children can take part too. It gets dark in the evening — keep an eye on them on the plaza.

Photography tips

From the plaza you shoot straight at the launch site, so the bursts fill the frame nicely. Set tripods where foot traffic is light.

Payment

Food stalls generally take cash, so carry extra coins. Parking on site is free.
