Tsurui Flower Umbrella Float Festival Fireworks Display

Details for scheduled events will be updated as they are finalized.] This fireworks display in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture, marks the grand finale of a two-day festival praying for a bountiful harvest. The powerful fireworks captivate the audience. On the first day, 19 flower umbrella floats (hanakasaboko) and one portable shrine parade through the green rice fields to the accompaniment of festival music. It is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property by Oita Prefecture. After the fireworks display, the 'Kawawatari' takes place, where the portable shrine crosses to the opposite bank on the Yamakuni side.
