Summary

Hita City's largest festival, held to coincide with the opening of sweetfish fishing season and cormorant fishing season on the Chikugo River system. The fireworks display is held over two consecutive nights, with a total of approx. 10,000 shells lighting up the night sky. The powerful sound of fireworks unique to the basin setting echoes through the mountains, allowing you to feel the vibrations through your entire body. On the Mikuma River, there are plenty of river-themed events, including the Hangiri Genpei Battle using large tubs floating on the water.
