Overview

The Tarumizu Fureai Festa 2026 Natsu Matsuri fireworks take place at the special venue at the old Tarumizu Port in Tarumizu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, on August 15, 2026. As the centerpiece of the city's biggest summer event, about 5,000 shells fire between 20:00 and 20:30. The signature is underwater fireworks, a style only possible over the sea, and the finale pairs music with rapid-fire volleys. Food stalls and kitchen trucks line the venue, so you can eat while you watch. It is a 10-minute walk from Tarumizu Port, or about 50 minutes by car from Kokubu IC on the Kyushu Expressway. Free parking covers 700 cars, but with 50,000 visitors expected, arriving early is advisable. Paid viewing seats are also provided.

Info for International Visitors

Best arrival time

Arrive about 1 hour before the 20:00 start; entrances and the harborfront get busy. Tarumizu Port is about a 10-minute walk from the venue.

With kids

Keep children away from the water's edge at the harbor venue. The food-stall area gets crowded, so agree on a meeting point in case you are separated.

Photography tips

Photos are generally fine, but tripods may be restricted in paid seating — check with staff. Underwater shells open near the surface, so keep the water in the lower frame.

Payment

Buy paid seats in advance. Food stalls and kitchen trucks generally take cash, so carry plenty of small bills and coins.
